Intro to Fiction

Got stories? Get started writing fiction! Whether you’re working on a novel, a memoir, short stories or if you’re a brand-new writer, this fun, introductory class focuses on fiction basics such as creating characters, settings, writing in scenes, using dialogue and managing time, as well as ideas for building a writing life. We’ll inspire each other with imaginative ideas and a solid foundation of writing skills for any genre. Participants will study published fiction and work toward producing a fiction story. Class may be taken as a stand-alone or as Part One of Two Intro to Fiction workshops.

This is the first of a two-part introductory workshop series.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Linda S. Clare is the author of six books and has published creative nonfiction, poetry and short stories. Her fiction has won several awards and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. She has taught fiction for more than a dozen years and is a writing coach and conference presenter. She lives in Eugene with her family and a menagerie of wayward animals.
