Mystery Story Weekend with John Reed
February 1-3, 2019

MYSTERY WEEKEND REGISTRATION IS CLOSED! JOIN US AT SCIFI FANTASY WEEKEND IN APRIL!
Everyone will write a complete short story in twenty-four hours, then we’ll gather in the drawing room to read them, following red herrings and tracking down clues.
All writers are welcome, from the beginner to the accomplished short story writer or novelist. The instructor will help anyone thicken plots, structure the perfect crime, or develop shady characters and precocious private eyes. This is a fun way to get started writing mysteries, and a great way to meet other writers working in the same genre. Cozy, police procedural, gumshoe, noir—all mysteries are welcome!
Tuition includes all instruction, a traditional Victorian Curry Dinner Friday evening, Sunday breakfast, and, of course, use of the Shelton McMurphey Johnson House to spin your tale.
Sleeping accommodations and other meals are not included. Discounted reservations will be available at the Campbell House Inn nearby for those coming from out of town.
Nearby restaurants and food trucks are an easy walk, and a kitchen with a microwave is available to brown bag your other meals. Participants often make a group reservation for Saturday dinner at the nearby brewpub.
