Get ready for NaNo!

Whether you’re a plotter or a pantser, this fast-paced plotting mashup gives you more than a mere outline. You will learn how structure works as the framework of your story, and you’ll get tools to plan out your novel ahead of time or guide your story discovery as you go.

Using Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey, 3-act structure, and a screen-writing card trick, this workshop will guide you through all aspects of planning out your novel so you’ll be ready to focus on writing come November. You’ll also learn some nifty tips and tricks for surviving November’s novel challenge or any novel project.

  • Week 1: Structure, Narrative Arcs, and Charter Development; Plotting ACT I
  • Week 2: The Long Middle, Story Problems, and Subplots; Plotting ACT II
  • Week 3: Knock-out Endings: Plotting ACT III
  • Week 4: Fixing Plot Holes & Problems, Themes, Fast First Drafts, & NaNo Survival Tips

Class members are also invited to informal Write-Ins every Saturday during November. Daryll Lynne will be available for 15-minute plot consultations as a fundraiser for our Young Writers Program.
